Garick is a leading manufacturer and distributor of sustainable natural resource products for the consumer, professional, commercial, and construction markets. Our product categories include: soils, soil amendments, mulches, playground surfacing and aggregates used in the production of cement and cement block. We are seeking enthusiastic, dedicated individuals to work with our Supply Chain team in order to gain professional experience within this growing field. Logistics plays an integral role in the supply chain by enhancing productivity and serviceability to our customers. Interns will be expected to work and communicate closely with the World Class Customer Service team by executing daily transportation needs.
This program is designated for Supply Chain and or Logistics majors. Students must have a junior or senior status with a minimum overall grade point average of 3.00 to be considered for the program.
Logistics – Interns will focus on communicating with carriers in order to establish and maintain relationships which facilitates shipments of truckloads from one of Garick’s facilities to customers across the nation.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
· Call potential carrier partners
· Negotiating prices of logistics services
· Researching potential carrier partners for areas of operations
· Dispatching trucks to customers
· Carrier management
· Load board management
· Conflict resolution
· Order fulfillment
· Carrier routing and scheduling
Supply Chain/Procurement – Interns will have the opportunity to research potential new vendors, evaluate pricing, purchase raw materials, and in turn understand the planning and execution of what goes on “behind the scenes” at Garick.
· Building and maintaining vendor relationships
· Negotiating raw material pricing and terms
· Cost benefit analysis of raw materials
